Toy Spotlight - You guessed it....Lego!

So I was going around the League checking out some of the new stuff being posted and came across this. Over at Toyriffic, "bump codes" for Lego Blind Bags are being shared. I had never heard of these but apparently there are unique dots on the bottom backs of the blind bags that give away the character inside. Well needless to say as soon as I saw his post I was out the door to test these so called codes. I felt a little creepy examining toys against the photos from his blog on my cell, while at the same groping the baggies in an attempt to feel a recognizable part. I was able to find matching codes to the ones shared over at Toyriffic after about 5 minutes of looking. Now the goal was to score the Cyclops, Chicken Suit Guy, and Dr. Jackal/Mr. Hyde. Here is how I did......
Needless to say, the codes worked like a charm! I got all three I wanted in EXACTLY three blind bags! Toyriffic your awesome for sharing this info and making me one happy, big kid!

I also snapped this photo while in the Lego aisle of some really cool Monster minifigures I'm hoping to pick up at some point....
So that wraps up yet another Lego Toy Spotlight. Thanks again to Toyriffic for this awesome strategy!

Fun Friday!

Part of the fun of my job is every once in a while I get to relax a bit and have some fun!
Sketched out and colored this guy for an eager bunch! Lego again....anyone sensing a pattern here?

Toy Spotlight - Legos!

Lately I've been loving Lego (not that I didn't when I was a kid). But I have recently started collecting Lego stuff again. I'm especially into the mini figures. I love the spin Lego puts on some of my favorite characters. Lego has so many great licenses including Marvel, DC, TMNT, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbit. They have been releasing some awesome stuff and I haven't been able to resist.

So today I was picking up some envelopes and other odds and ends at Target and I saw the little box set in the image above. The set recreates an Endor battle and includes some great little goodies!
I'm loving this Biker Scout Trooper and this sweet speeder bike!
Check out the awesome detail in that Stormtrooper's helmet!
This dude is manning the mounted turret! I like the tree and plants included...adds to the Endor feel.
For 12 buck, this is an awesome set!

I also picked up these Hobbit minifigures:
I dig how much stuff you get in these baggies! The fish and bone accessories are a nice touch! Gollum looks awesome!
Bilbo came with two "Sting" daggers! Love how they capture his likeness with the hair piece!

Finally, I have been absolutely addicted to these blind bags! Lego has done a great job including some awesome characters in these! Series 9 has just started hitting stores and these are the first 3 I've scored.....
A cop, a Roman Senator (sweet!), and this space dude....he has a rocket pack on his back.
And from Series 8....I finally scored Santa! Better late then never I always say!

Ok so that'll do it for another toy spotlight! Expect to be seeing more Lego stuff in the future!

Happy Birthday Kevin Costner!

Stars in some of my all time favorites!

"Is this Heaven?"

"No, it's Iowa"

80s Spotlight

I'm sleepy, grouchy, and a bit annoyed to see that even more of my hard earned money is going to Uncle Sam this pay day....the first thing that popped in my mind was this........
Anyone have a time machine =)

Either way Happy Friday!

Top 10 - 80s Cop Movies!

Ok, been a while since I did a top 10. I was thinking for a bit about what could be a good topic to bring it back....80s Cop Movies is what I came up with.

Now anyone out there who grew up in the 80s knows there was no shortage of Cop related goodness. From dramas to comedies and everything in between, the 80s knew cop movies! Here are my top 10 as well as a few honorable mentions (like I said no shortage!) Might wanna pop down and start the Untouchables theme before proceeding....add to the whole experience =)

10. Red Heat
9. 48 Hours

8. RoboCop
This movie is just plain bad ass.

7. Lethal Weapon
This movie started a pretty sweet franchise! Mel in the 80s was pretty tough to ignore.

6. Police Academy
"Drop that stereo before I blow your goddamn nuts off, asshole"- Tackleberry

5. Beverly Hills Cop
After seeing this movie I immediately wanted to be a cop (the Ferrari sealed it!)

4. The Untouchables
For this one I had to use the theme rather then just a poster. The music in this movie elevates it considerably in my opinion. Sean Connery certainly helped too!

3. Black Rain
80s, 90s doesn't matter the decade or the genre....this is just plain incredible.
"You watch your tail cowboy"

2. Die Hard
One of the best cop movies period. A gem for those who love to throw around quotes like myself!
"HEY LADY DOES IT SOUND LIKE I'M ORDERIN A PIZZA!"

1. Running Scared
As a kid me and my brother probably watched this movie 30 times. Absolutely loved this one! The song Sweet Freedom by Michael McDonald (was written for this movie) is my official start of summer anthem!
"I asked for one backup, ONE backup! You bring the Rose parade!"

Honorable Mention
 Turner and Hootch
Tango and Cash
Cobra

So that'll do it for my return to top tens! Love to hear any of your favorites I might have missed or even your favorite quotes from any of the movies I mentioned (love quotes). Gonna end with another from my number 1 pick.....

"We lost the suspect, our keys, our car, OUR PANTS!"

Toy Spotlight - Man of Steel 1/6 Statue

So you could have guessed with the upcoming release of Man of Steel this spring that there would be an onslaught of merchandise tied to it. Well this is among the first to pop up. It's a 1/6 scale statue by Gentle Giant. It's available for pre order at BigBadToyStore.com for 109 bucks.

I'm super psyched for this movie but I'm not sold on this statue. Thoughts?
