MOTU Minis!

It's official, I made my first ever purchase from Matty Collector. The little guys in the picture above are what finally broke my resolve! They represent the first toys I've purchased in a good six months that were made after the 80s! These toys are part of the new MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE MINIs line.

As a kid I always liked compact toys. This continued to adulthood and even evolved to me enjoying silly/stylized versions of my favorite characters. These 2 inch tall, top heavy toys cover all bases! A neat added bonus to the 20$ two packs is a build-a-piece for Castle Greyskull. I'm certain that when assembled, this set is gonna look sweet! I'm hoping to see another wave with perhaps a build-a-Snake Mountain? One can only dream of how awesome that display would be!

As of this post Battle Armor He-Man and Mer-Man are sold out at Matty Collector but available at BigBadTyStore for $35 ($15 more than Matty). As for Battle Armor Skeletor and Moss Man (who's actually been flocked! How cool is that!?) they'll be available on Matty Collector on April 15.

I'll be posting my progress as these awesome little dudes start arriving in the Nerd Nook. Stay tuned!

Nerd Nook Spotlight - Knex Super Mario Series 2 Minifigures: Secret Codes Revealed with Daisy and Wario

Been quite a while since I've done any new figure spotlights. Figured this very neat new line of Knex Minifigures would be a great way to get back in the swing.

Knex has been releasing some very fun minifigures. They have captured the likenesses of some of Nintendo's most beloved characters and turned them into great little minifigures. Lets take a closer look at these awesome little toys....

Princess Peach (re-released) and Daisy (limited to 2 per case)

Dry Bones

Koopa Paratrooper

Shy Guy

Wario

Boo

If you're liking these figures as much as I am and want to pick them up here are the secret codes to prevent getting duplicates.

On the back of the packets you'll find a code. Here are the unique codes for each figure:

Shy Guy: Second to last # underlined once.

Boo: Last number underlined once.

Wario: 5 underlined once.

Dry Bones: 3 underlined once.

Koopa Paratrooper: 1 after the 3 underlined once.

Daisy: first zero underlined twice. Remember Daisy is the rare figure limited to only two per case.

Hope these codes help you score these figures! Remember....Keep it nerdy guys!

Portal Co Op Bots Atlas and P-Body Pre Order!

So as a Portal and Toy fan these guys are the best of both worlds! I've been looking forward to this pair ever since I played Portal 2 two years ago! They are set to be 7" tall (Atlas a bit shorter I suppose). They will feature an LED lit Portal gun (Aperature Science Handheld Portal Device if you wanna get technical) and will be made Neca. Needless to say I can't wait!

Preorder.....CHECK =)

Neca Gizmo Action Figure

Picked this guy up at my local collectible shop. Always loved the character and Neca did a great job with this toy.

That "bump" on the back of his head is how you pose his eyes. It seems like a good idea but he always ends up with "drunk face" unless you have the eyes all the way left, right, up, or down. It's next to impossible to have them looking straight.

He's a great figure and he fits right in with the rest of the Nerdom in my Nerd Nook!

Despicable Me 2 Minion Action Figure

I'm a big fan of these silly little characters! Needless to say I had to buy one when I saw them for 7 bucks at Target. This guy is "Minion Dave". He's about 2 inches tall and super lolzy!  He's already made himself quite comfy in the Nerd Nook!

Public Enemies Batman

Recently won this figure in an online contest and it is sweet!

Love the chiseled features and exaggerated "V" shaped torso!

Great detailing in the utility belt!

Looks awesome displayed with my "Dark Knight Returns Batman"!

San Diego Comic Con Exclusive Alert!

These might be too cool to pass on! They are called mini masters and come with an awesome package that can be used to display them in what looks like Castle Greyskull. I'm a fan a mini figures, especially ones of my favorite characters. Very likely I'd be adding these to my collection!

San Diego Comic Con Exclusive Alert!

I'm sure you guys are well aware of the Black Series of Star Wars figures being released this summer. They look super cool and I know I'll end up buying more then a few of them! Well here's a must have for me....San Diego's exclusive Black Series Boba Fett with Han in Carbonite! The photo can speak for itself ;)

San Diego Comic Con Exclusive Alert!

How cool are these Angry Birds done in the vintage style? This might need to be in the Nerd Nook!

LEGO Series 10 Blind Bags 15/16 figures

Here are 15/16 of the series 10 minifigures. I am only missing the Mechanic. All in all it was a pretty cool series with some great, stand out characters!

LEGO Series 10 Blind Bag Toys

I've very publicly, and on numerous occasions, admitted to being addicted to these blind bagged LEGO minifigures. I've purchased 13 blind bags and gotten zero duplicates! My most recent scores came last night. I grabbed the Skydiver (who is super LOLZY with that facial expression), the Roman Soldier (who's just cool), and Grandpa (who i really wanted for reasons I can't explain).

Nostalgia Spotlight - WWF and The Ultimate Warrior!

My days as a wrestling fan were brief when I consider how long I've loved Super Heroes and Star Wars. In spite of that fact, there was a time in my life where I couldn't get enough of the WWF (yes WWF not WWE). I would say my wrestling fandom began around 1990 and lasted for about 3 years.

My brother an I dumped loads of quarters into the WWF arcade machine. This little corner store across from our elementary school sold candy and had this machine. So awesome!

We had loads of fun completing our set of WWF Classics trading cards!

Unwrapping this on Christmas morning easily makes my list of top 5 gifts from Santa!

Yes, it's true, there was a time when I couldn't get enough wrestling. As a kid, with so many great personalities, it was easy to love.

The reason I felt inspired to blog about my brief love affair with wrestling has to do with this toy....

I had this figure as a kid. Unfortunately mine (the one I owned many years ago) was lost when my family moved to Florida (one of many moves). I have to thank Brian from Cool and Collected for hooking me up this one. I'm thrilled to have it again. He has been given a fitting place in the man cave!

"My new digs....not bad..." - Ultimate Warrior

So that's it for this quick walk down memory lane. Thanks again Brian for helping me add a favorite toy chock full of nostalgia!

LEGO Series 10 Bling Bag Minifigures!

The ever popular blind bagged LEGO minifigures have reached their 10th wave and there are certainly some cool characters to commemorate this wave!

The Sad Clown and Bumble Bee Girl are two of my favorites from the wave....

Xena (thats' not really her name) the Warrior Princess and Medusa are two other highlights from this great series of mini figs.

I guess this is a Continental Army soldier. He's pretty cool and carries a nice musket.

I was lucky, I bought 7 packs and didn't get any duplicates. I did, however, get these two. Pretty unexciting if ya ask me. A librarian and a teen age chick with a cell phone and a puppy. These were the "eh" pair from my haul. But I really can't complain. Got all the ones I wanted and no dups!

There is also a rare 17th figure called "Mr. Gold" who is limited to only 5,000. Several are listed on ebay for crazy amounts!

Toy Spotlight - Life Sized E.T. by Neca

E.T. is my all time favorite movies. Oddly enough I don't own very many E.T. Collectibles. This may be one I need to splurge on! It's a nearly 3 feet tall puppet replica of E.T. Himself. I'm gonna have to think long and hard about this one. That price point is a bit much, but what an awesome collectible!

New 52 Flash by Kotobukiya

Here we have Kotobukiya's New 52 Flash statue. This is number 3/7 from the Justice League collection. The remaining four figures will be released monthly until the set is complete. I personally can't wait for Batman in June....but this one is pretty awesome too!

The metallic paint looks incredible on these statues.

Decent packaging if you'd prefer to keep yours mint in box.

For me, however, I'll be displaying mine opened. They look great together. The characters and their colors really compliment the others so well.

They already look beautiful together. I'm looking forward to completing the set. If you're a fan of these characters I'd highly recommend adding these to your collection!

Toy Spotlight - TMNT Battle Shells

Came across these while browsing at my local collectible shop. Battle Shell Ninja Turtles. These are roughly twice the size of the regular actions figures and very neat. They come with many weapons which can be stored in or on their shells. Hence the name "Battle Shells". I managed to resist the temptation to slap down $80 bucks for the set and instead snapped this picture =)

Toy Spotlight - Super Powers Batmobile

This awesome toy was released in the first wave of the Super Powers Collection by Kenner in 1984.

It was a great looking toy that certainly took some inspiration from the 1966 Batmobile. I especially like how they made the car itself resemble Batman.

Like all the figures in the line, this toy had power actions. As seen in the photo above it had a battering ram in the front and villain catcher in the back that could be engaged using a switches in the cockpit.

This is most certainly one of my favorite toys from childhood. Excited to finally have it in my collection!

"He took the car........the OTHER car.......!"
