So for this week's assignment from the League we'll be writing about.......
Anyone who knows me is well aware of the fact that I love Star Wars. That's right I said "Wars". My love affair with Star Wars has been growing and evolving my entire life. I know all the ins and outs of Star Wars right down to the obscure little details that make people look at you funny....I digress. Anyway as it says it's STAR TREK.
Now I don't claim to be a Treky and my knowledge of Star Trek is limited at best. I did however become a fan (I use the term loosely) after seeing JJ Abrams reboot a few years back. I found it to be truly epic. I really enjoyed watching the evolution of Kirk and Spock's friendship and the action was top notch (I saw it twice in theatres!!!). That said I can't wait for Friday.
"Space Seed", the first appearance of Khan!
After seeing the movie a few years back, a friend of mine (who's way more of a Trek fan than I'll ever be) suggested I watch some of the "key stuff". He suggested, for a newb like me, the following episode and movies: Space Seed (the first time Khan is introduced to the Star Trek universe via the television show), Wrath of Khan (Khan's appearance on the big screen in arguably the best of the classic movies), and The Search for Spock (the follow up to Wrath of Khan)I enjoyed Space Seed and Wrath of Khan the most. Search for Spock....not so much. So that's really the extent of my Star Trek fandom. I am really psyched for the movie Friday. Who knows, maybe it'll inspire to to delve even deeper into all that is Star Trek.
Before I wrap up this post I want to share some new Star Trek related toys I've added to the Nerd Nook. I've been absolutely loving blind bags these days and have been all over the LEGO minifigures. After reading this post over at Toyriffic I headed out to Toys R Us to see about these Kre-O Star Trek Toys. Here's how I did.....
Captain Nero (great accessories and detailed heads!)
Grasia
Lieutenant Sprog
Klingon
Gorn (The Lizard Kirk famously fights in the epic battle featured in the below video!)
Keenser (The little guy who hangs out with Scottie in the last movie)
These are some really neat little figures....and with a buy one get one deal at Toys R US, I couldn't resist grabbing up the whole first series. I did, however, remove the guess work from the equation. If you want to guarantee a certain character use these codes found on the backs of the packs (shout out again to Toyriffic for making me aware of this strategy!)
Captain Nero 30711 05
Keenser 30711 06
Lieutenant Sprog 30711 07
Klingon 30711 08
Gorn - 30711 09
Grasia - 30711 10
If you like mini figures, blind bags, Star Trek (or all three!) grab these guys! They are fun and very affordable! Until next time....MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!!......
......No but seriously.....LIVE LONG....AND PROSPER!!!
League links to come!!!
I got them as well as the Klingon Bird of Prey and Shuttlecraft, Next stop: NCC-1701!
ReplyDeleteNice, I'm pretty addicted to these mini figures lately!
